Welcome to
Studland Class
Welcome to Year 1
Here’s what the children would like to tell you about our class:
Welcome to Studland; our year one class. Our class teacher is Miss Wills and our class Teaching Assistant is Miss Etheridge.
In Year one, we work to deliver an exciting curriculum in which children have the opportunity to thrive and become successful learners. We aim to make the transition into year one smooth by fostering strong links with Reception class throughout the year. Children in year one, have access to outdoor learning, throughout the week, in order for them to explore practical resources. We believe that the curriculum should give children the chance to discover, through a range of resources that will extend their Maths and understanding of world knowledge.
Developing the children’s love of reading is of huge importance and so we continue to spend time exploring books and stories with children, in order to build on their imagination and comprehension skills.
During the year, we will explore the wider curriculum topics of The Great Fire of London, Mary Anning and explore an exciting topic called ‘Zoom’, where we will design and create our own model vehicles. We begin the year by thinking about Living in the UK.
We look forward to welcoming you to our class and school community.
